The City of Key West recently celebrated Toni Michelle Gage completing 35 years of service. During her time, she has been a strong part of the foundation of City government.
Gage started her career in 1986 by working for Former City Clerk Josephine Parker in the City Clerk's office. After receiving her "basic training" under Miss Josephine, she transferred to the Mayor and Commissioners office as their secretary where she eventually worked for Mayor Tarrancino, aka "Captain Tony". Toni went on to work in the Building Department for then Chief Building Officer John Castro, Sr., Engineering Department for former Director Raymond Archer, and the Utilities Department for former Director and one time acting City Manager Paul Cates. Toni decided to try Finance and in 1995, she transferred into the department to work for former Director Roger Wittenberg. She enjoyed Finance and it showed because in 1996, she was promoted to collections and customer service. Gage then went to work for Public Works in 2003 where she was promoted to her current position Supervisor of Customer Service.
In 2010 Gage and her position became part of the Parking Department. In addition to overseeing customer service, she supervises the school crossing guards.
“Toni is the right arm of this department,” said Parking Director John Wilkins. “She is dedicated to this city.”
Wilkins presented Gage with a certificate and a challenge coin marking her 35 years of service.
