[ARCHIVED] Chief Sean Brandenburg presents Chief’s Commendation

Key West Police Challenge Coin

In an awards ceremony hosted by the Grand Key Resort, Chief Sean Brandenburg presented a Chief’s Commendation to Sgt. Frank Duponty and Officers Michael Shouldice, Derek Wallis, Michael Pettee, Janeth Del Cid, and Tiffany Beeman.

On May 12th, all units were alerted to a report that an armed male suspect had gotten off the school bus at Key West High School. When it was discovered that the student was not in class, all units spread out to find him as quickly and safely as possible. The student was located unarmed, a few blocks from campus. However, officers suspected he had hidden the firearm and, the next day, they searched the area where the student had been found. They discovered the handgun buried in a hole under some shrubbery.

“The fast, professional response of everyone involved ensured that our schools, students, and community are a safer place,” said Chief Brandenburg.
