Police Chief Sean Brandenburg, during the recent annual Key West Police awards ceremony, presented a Chief's Commendation to three officers for going above and beyond. The Grand Key Resort hosted the ceremony.
On April 22, Officer Tiffany Ane, Victor Arguello, and Reserve Officer Donald Lee performed an outstanding act in the line of duty, which, through prompt and alert action, resulted in providing much-needed medical attention to a person in distress because of a Fentanyl overdose.
They encountered the individual, who was unresponsive and displaying signs of an overdose sitting in the driver's seat of a running vehicle. The vehicle's transmission was in gear, and all vehicle doors were locked. They worked together as a team and safely broke the vehicle's window, placed the car in park, and attended to the person until rescue arrived.
"Your dedication and devotion to duty are most heartily commended," said Chief Brandenburg, "and are in keeping with the core values of the Key West Police Department."
