Contact Waste Management (WM) to arrange for a pickup of the unwanted furniture. There are some caveats; WM will pick up items for free if the furniture is less than two (2) cubic yards. You will need to request the pickup at 305 296-8297. If the unwanted furniture is over two cubic yards, WM will charge a fee for pickup. They will visit your residence to analyze the size and type of material for discarding. An estimate for the service will be provided, and prepayment is necessary before removal.
Once WM has confirmed the pickup, place items on the right-of-way in front of your residence. WM uses a grapple truck that requires clearance to pick items up. Material cannot obstruct the street or sidewalk, be placed against a fence or under overhead powerlines, or you may be in for a shock. If the items are too close to fencing or under a powerline, they will not pick up your items.
Samples of acceptable items include furniture, mattresses; household appliances; grills.
Examples of non-acceptable bulky waste items include automobile parts; batteries; liquids; poisons; explosives, contractor remodeling, and demolition debris.
