Alyson Crean is an award-winning journalist, writer, publisher, editor, and photographer. She has lived in Key West since 1990 and has served the City of Key West as a Public Information Officer since 2008. Prior to joining the City team, she worked as a freelancer, staff writer, bureau chief, editor, and publisher. Her work has been recognized with awards from Rolling Stone magazine, the Oregon Newspaper Publishers Association, Writer's Digest, and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. She founded a local literary magazine – Cayo -- in the mid-1990s and has worked in television and radio.
Volunteer efforts include: Mentor for Take Stock in Children since 2013, Navy League, the Anne McKee Artists Fund Board, Monroe County Education Foundation Board, Florida Keys Council of the Arts Advisory Board, Crimestoppers Board, KWPD Love Fund board, and the Florida Keys Cancer Foundation. Graduate of Leadership Monroe County, Class XXII.
