Chris Counsellor brings over two decades of experience and leadership in Code Enforcement to the City of Key West. A native of New Jersey, Chris relocated to Florida in 2003, beginning his Code Enforcement career with St. Lucie County. During his 12 years there, he also served in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve, with assignments at Station Cape Canaveral, Marine Safety Unit Port Arthur, and Station Fort Pierce. He retired in 2019 after proudly completing 20 years of combined service in both the U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard.
In 2015, Chris became the Code Enforcement Supervisor for the City of Cocoa, and later spent nine years in Martin County as Senior Code Officer. With 22 years of hands-on Code Enforcement experience and a background in military service, Chris is known for his disciplined approach and strong foundation in public service, backed by certifications in all four levels of the Florida Association of Code Enforcement (FACE).
He holds an Associate of Arts degree in History from Indian River State College. Outside of work, Chris enjoys life with his wife of 31 years, their two children, and the newest addition to the family—a granddaughter born in January.
