Prepare an action plan now for weather emergencies. It's your responsibility as a contractor to keep your job sites secure. The following are Key West's guidelines for job site debris:
(a) Contractors or owners of active or inactive construction projects must clean up and remove all construction equipment, debris, and discarded items before final inspection approval.
(b) Ensure construction sites remain clean. Construction debris should not accumulate on the property for more than 14 days.
(c) Store all construction-related debris and materials securely to prevent them from becoming hazards that may spread and cause damage during severe weather conditions.
(d) Before a tropical storm watch or warning, or hurricane watch or warning, is issued, remove or secure all construction materials, such as roof tiles, lumber, and scaffolding, to prevent them from becoming projectiles.
Let's work together to ensure our city and residents stay safe.
