City Seal

The City of Key West will be initiating fees for urban forestry and tree commission permitting and reviews beginning August 1, 2022.

"The fees are set up to cover the time spent processing and reviewing the paperwork and doing site visits related to Tree Commission permits, building permits, and landscape plan reviews for the Planning Department," said Urban Forestry Manager Karen DeMaria.  "There will be a basic application fee and an added fee based on the number of regulated trees or palms listed on the permit."

The new fee schedule will include a $20 basic fee for residential and $40 basic fee for commercial properties for applications submitted to the Tree Commission, plus a per tree fee that ranges from $5 for a palm transplant to $50 for a canopy tree removal that is reviewed at the Tree Commission meeting.  A $10 fee will also be required for the permit close-out inspections.  Fees have also been established for development plan review projects and building permit reviews by the urban forestry manager.

For additional information, contact the Urban Forestry Manager at 305-808-3768 or by email.
