[ARCHIVED] Terrific Response for Installing Retired Flag Box at City Hall

City Seal

The response has been terrific to the new Flag Retirement Box at City Hall.  The box was installed at the end of January, and the community has filled the box with retired flags.

Thanks to Key West Ambassadors Robert Irvine and Mike deBettencourt for making this happen!  They worked with Mayor Teri Johnston and Assistant City Manager Todd Stoughton.

The new box is outside of the customer service side of City Hall.

The retired flags will be delivered to American Legion Post 28, located on Stock Island next to the Key West Golf Club, and they will burn the flags.  Post 28 currently conducts flag-burning ceremonies.
