The City of Key West will temporarily increase the hourly parking rate this New Year’s Weekend holiday. The special event hourly rate will be $7 in downtown municipal lots and on street metered spaces Friday through Monday – New Year's Day.
Like many municipalities, special event parking rates have been approved by the City of Key West as a way for the City to recoup some of the expenses of large events that significantly impact parking, transit, fire, police, and community services. The rates will be increased to reflect the market rate of private parking lots in the historic district.
All parking permit benefits will remain unchanged during this temporary rate increase. For example, Residential permit holders can still park for four hours (one time per day) in the select lots where they are valid.
