Key West Vice-Mayor Sam Kaufman announced that he is forming a task force to gather information and advice regarding the lease renewal process of the Lower Keys Medical Center.
The existing lease expires in five years, and Vice Mayor Kaufman wants to gather information and insight as the Lower Keys Hospital District Board begins looking at the expiration of the existing lease.
The 30-year lease was initially implemented in 1999 with Health Management Associates, which was acquired in 2013 by Community Health Systems.
"I want to help the District Board in the process with the expertise of this community,” said Kaufman. “This task force is a means of gathering information and bringing attention to the lease renewal process."
Anyone interested in participating is asked to submit a letter of interest or a resume to Vice Mayor Kaufman at DistrictII@cityofkeywest-fl.gov by the end of March.
