The City of Key West has revamped its residential parking permit system to make it easier to navigate. You won’t need a sticker, and you won’t have to go to the Tax Collector’s offices to purchase one. Just click the link on the City’s website, and you’re on your way!
In October, when current residential permits expire, residents will obtain a permit that allows parking in spaces marked residential. The permit also allows you to park in six City lots for four hours a day. The Park and Ride on Grinnell, the main lot at the Key West Bight on Caroline, Smathers Beach, the Truman Waterfront Park, and Jackson Square behind the courthouse. The permit is only good in Jackson Square evenings and on weekends.
The new system is based on your license plate, so no sticker is needed. In addition, once you’ve purchased your permit, you can skip the pay stations when you use your four-hour credit. Just click on the Passport app on your phone, and you’re good to go!
This is just the latest in an ongoing effort to streamline all aspects of parking for residents and visitors alike. With our new Passport system, you can pay for metered parking with your smartphone. You can even pay for parking tickets or appeal them online or with your smartphone.
The Passport app is available for both IOS and Android; just go to your app store and download the app. The residential permits are available on October 1st by accessing the City's Parking page here.
You can also go to www.cityofkeywest-fl.gov and click on the Parking button at the center of the home page.
The new permits will be available on October 1st, but current permits will not expire until October 31st.
