Crews are in the final phases of finishing up the complete makeover of lower Whitehead Street.
On Wednesday, April 27, crews will be milling Whitehead Street beginning at Fleming and working towards Front Street. As crews move from block to block, the street will be closed. The closed-off area will be made accessible to emergency vehicles only.
Depending on the weather, the milling is scheduled to be completed by the weekend, at which time the road will be open to all traffic.
On Monday, May 1, crews will begin the installation of the new asphalt surface. This work will also close a block at a time as the roadbed is rebuilt. Some intersections may remain closed overnight during this process, but detours will be clearly marked.
By Wednesday, May 4, paving will begin, which will complete the Whitehead Street project.
