City Seal

Poinciana Elementary School fourth and fifth graders got a good lesson in government when Mayor Teri Johnston visited.  The students are studying federal, state, and local government.

Mayor Johnston discussed her job responsibilities as the Mayor of Key West and the workings of local municipal government.  The students posed many good questions.

"You are the future of Key West, and some of you may one day become a City Commissioner or Mayor," said Johnston, and urged them to visit City Hall and attend a City Commission meeting to speak on an issue that they are concerned with.  She stressed the importance of being involved in their community.
