[ARCHIVED] Disposal of Live Christmas Trees, Wreaths, and Garlands.

City Seal

The holidays are winding down, which means it is almost time to take down the tinsel, stow away the stockings, and cart off the Christmas tree. But once you've got your Christmas tree undecorated and ready for disposal, what do you do?

Here is the best way to dispose of your Christmas tree, wreaths, or garland in the City of Key West.

Residents can put out real trees - free of decorations, tinsel, tree stand - real wreaths, and real garlands, beside the trash bin on your collection day.  Please do not place Christmas trees, garlands, or wreaths in plastic bags or in the recycling or garbage bins.

Waste Management can process the trees like yard waste and send them to a mulch and compost center.
