Peters Civilian of the Year (PNG)The Key West Police Department is proud to announce the selection of Katherine Peters as the Civilian Employee of the Year 2023. Deputy Chief Randy Smith presented Peters with the honor, and Keys Federal Credit Union, the sponsor of the award, presented her with a check for $500.

Peters joined the Key West Police Department in September of 2021 as Administrative Coordinator to the Operations Bureau, though she has worked for the Department for many years in the past.

“She handles a wide diversity of responsibilities and does so with grace and humor," said Smith.

Her duties include coordinating subpoenas and deposition dates with the State Attorney's Office and defense attorneys. In addition, she ensures the Operations Captain's calendar is organized and up to date.  She continually takes on extra tasks and improves the Department's workflow.

"Her kindness, smile, and positive attitude brighten even the worst of days," said Smith
