Mayor Teri Johnston and the Key West City Commission, during the May meeting, honored the selfless service of our local caregivers by proclaiming National Nurses Week.
Nurses are the backbone of the healthcare field and provide lifesaving care to those in need and attend to those with short term and long-term illnesses. They provide education, care and hope as well as grace and dignity to the dying, compassion and hope to the fighting and happiness and joy to the healed.
“Nurses find the balance and proper communication techniques to advocate for patients every day,” reads the proclamation, “and nurses serve as liaison between doctors, patients and caregivers, ensuring clear communication and understanding among all involved.
“Most importantly,” it continues, “nurses are a vital part of our community, promoting healing, health, and wellbeing. It is of the utmost importance and proper to recognize the endless accomplishments and immeasurable value of nurses.”
